This is the building that I've worked at since I was 14. At least one member of my family has been a member(s) of the Chicago Board of Trade since 1910. This current CBOT building was erected in 1930 in Art Deco Style, which was the prevailing style in the 1930's. Another famous building: The Empire State Buildingin NYC was also built in the Art Deco Style. At one time, the CBOT was also the tallest building in the city of Chicago. At the top of the CBOT you'll notice a statue. That statue is of Ceres the Greek Goddess of Grain.
During the 1980's and 90's I had an office that was directly overlooking LaSalle Street and was about 20 stories above the the clock shown here in the picture. I love this photo as it captures the CBOT in all its glory. Truly an outstanding Building and photograph of this building.
