A little history of this song..... It's a Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
Today's Song of the Day by Australian group The Lemonheads is from the 1992 album of the same name 'It's a Shame about Ray.' In a Songfacts interview with Lemonheads lead singer Evan Dando, he talked about the song. "It's spooky," he said. "It's about a disappearing person. It's a very open-ended, grey sort of song. I think it's one of those things, like "The Trouble with Harry" [a 1955 Alfred Hitchcock film]. Like a mysterious sort of song." So who is "Ray"? Dando explained to Melody Maker: "It comes from this guy in Melbourne, Australia, who calls everyone Ray. So I started to think that Ray could be a name for everybody, so 'It's a Shame about Ray' could be about anybody. We just liked that phrase. From there, I had the music and I just wrote it really quickly - about half an hour or an hour - and then we had it. We brought it down to our friend's record store and played it for him, and we were all excited about it. It's a pretty grey and indefinite kinda thing, but then it's very specific. It's a little puzzler for me, too. I'm not sure if the person singing the song is Ray himself, or someone who knew him. It's hard to know." Well Evan, you got me throughly confusd?? No matter how confused I may be with that explanation... it's a good song and one I think you'll enjoy.
Enjoy !!

A little history of this song..... Tonight by Freedom
The last few weeks we've been hopping all over the Globe looking for new , different, and listenable Rock. Today is no exception. Today's Song of the Day 'Tonight' comes from the group Freedom, a band out of Sweden. Stockholm has recently become much like Seattle was in the early 90's... a vivid music scene flourishing with innovative bands trying to make it. The sound of Freedom is based on the ‘70s and features a wider range of influences reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen and the Swedish band The Hellicopters. Both are a source of inspiration for many Swedish rock bands. 'Tonight,' is the the second single released off of their upcoming new studio album ‘Stay Free!’ Here's what the band has to say about their new single, "Our second single 'Tonight' is about sleepless nights with endless existential anxiety. The feeling of being out of gas on the super highway of life while your peers are passing you in every lane. Long nights of heavy thoughts, but hey they make a good tune!”“'Tonight' is no exception and it deals with the struggle of listening too much to the nasty angst-ridden voice in your head." I've listened to this song quite a lot lately and I think you'll find it as enjoyable as I do... just don't their video get in the way of your enjoyment as it's kinda strange.
Enjoy !!

A little history of this song..... When the Morning Shines by Large Mirage
Large Mirage is a fresh rock group from the humble suburbs of Sydney who have made a niche with their unique brand of vintage rock 'n' roll and striking retro image. They have released several singles and are notable for their totally independent studio work. Today's Song of the Day 'When the Morning Shines' is a brand new track from the Aussie group. The single drips of power pop attitude with a classic rock 'n' roll sound influenced by Free, Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple. The song is composed, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by members of Large Mirage. Lyrically,'When the Morning Shines' is a cynical heartbreak song - a unique and cheeky take on the breakup formula. Its movement takes the listener through the story not only vocally, but also through the two guitar breaks which carry the track's melody with contrasting styles. A retrorock/pop song from an exciting new band that I think that you'll enjoy.
Enjoy!!

A little history of this song..... Is There a Ghost by Band of Horses
Band of Horses are an American indie rock band formed in 2004 in Seattle by Ben Bridwell and Mat Brooke. Tha band has been led by singer-songwriter Ben Bridwell, who has been the band's sole constant member throughout numerous line-up changes. Today's Song of the Day 'Is There a Chost' is first single from their second full-length album, "Cease to Begin". It became the group's first charting single in the United States, peaking at #34 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. And, to date, has over 43 million streams on Spotify. Bridwell told The NME April 24, 2010 that this song was inspired by his feelings of paranoia. "I suffer from paranoia really badly," he said." And the thing that inspires me most is, once I get into that horrible isolated area, I think I'm being watched." He added: "I've written songs that are based specifically on that feeling. 'Is There a Chost' was based on an ice-maker in my house that was freaking me out." I guess just about anything can give you inspiration when you're a RocK Star. Give it a spin... I think you'll like it.
